You are to choose AT LEAST 10 important events that occurred and how it impacted our country. The way that you present this information (For example, a magazine, a brochure, a Powerpoint, a Prezi, a website, a video, etc.) is up to you!
which news stories should i highlight?
When choosing news stories, make sure:

what could it look like?
Multimedia (Videos, Powerpoints, Prezis, Websites, etc.)
Watch a video produced by CNN Student News to give you an idea of how you can highlight events. Click on the button below. The video is located on the directly on the homepage.
Note: The video produced by CNN Student News only features major news stories, but does not necessarily explain its importance or impact. Remember that you must include this component for your project.
You could also present your information in the form of a newspaper, magazine, or brochure. Each year, Time magazine does a "Year in Review," which highlights all the major events that occurred throughout the year. The image below is the cover of Time Annual 2012.
For your project, you could do something similar. You could dedicate one page to each event, write a brief summary of the event and explain how it impacted our country / why the event was important. You could also include pictures, captions, and other nonfiction text features to grab your readers' attention!
