When taking sides in an argument, it is important to start by remaining open, weighing the reasons and evidence offered up by both sides, and suspending judgment.  This will help you create the most informed opinion. 

tips for choosing a note-taking method

-  Clearly separate evidence for, evidence against, and other information.
-  Make sure you have enough space to write, add, and/or move information.
-  Make sure your notes are NEAT and that you know where you got the information from (the source).
-  Make sure your method allows you to jot notes quickly.

Make sure you CITE YOUR SOURCE when you are taking notes!  This will help you refer back to specific articles/authors when you write your essay!
